Amazon World-wide-web Services

Amazon online offers webmasters and builders several tools for developing and managing web applications in the cloud. Amazon's cloud-based web services include their information delivery system, CloudFront. Amazon has also an ecommerce cloud service that can provide order fulfillment via Amazon product warehouses termed Amazon Fulfillment Services. Amazon online S3, an acronym with regard to Simple Storage Services, offer cloud-based data and archive storage, and the Digital Private Cloud (VPS) gives you secure, private networking from the cloud.

Google's Iphone app Engine

One of Google's recent innovations is a Google App Engine, which enables template designers to create and maintain cloud-based applications that will be that "live" on Yahoo servers, and offer on-demand entry to users. The Google Iphone app Engine accommodates scalable delivery. For example, if a webmaster roll-outs an app and expects to own 1000 users interact while using the app, but instead gets a million hits on the first day, the Google App Engine can fit the traffic. Google provides free and fee-based app hosting, based on the need of the app owner.

As a small business we decided to use "Everything Google" to run our website. We are amazed by how much functionality Google provides for small business owners like ours at the ridiculously low price of $50 per 12 months. It's also incredible as how well the different applications available on Google are generally integrated together. If we were a sizable business and were running these applications in-house, we would have probably spent millions on the purchase, integration and maintenance.

On a daily basis we use the following Google services:

• Yahoo Docs - All our documents are kept in Google Docs. We no longer get any files stored locally in Microsoft format on our computers (and we eliminated our server). This means that we can access some of our documents from anywhere (very handy because we often travel relating to the UK and Italy) and get access to our documents at all times (through some of our laptops/iPads). Everything is backed up automatically and we no longer need to think about saving of documents. The other brilliant thing about Google Docs is that it is integrated with Google Web pages, which means that on our site the product prices are directly driven by spreadsheets which were held in Google Docs and we have a couple of presentations in Google Paperwork which play automatically with our website.
